Cellist Lidy Blijdorp graduated cum laude from the conservatory of The Hague, Amsterdam and Paris, where she studied with Monique Bartels and Michel Strauss. She then obtained her Artist's Diploma at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Gary Hoffman. She won prizes at the Princess Christina Competition, Amsterdam Cello Biennale, Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Competition (2012), Prix Academie Maurice Ravel (2014). Her debut CD Journeyers received two Edisons (2020).

Lidy soloed with, among others, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, the NBE, the St. Petersburg Hermitage Orchestra and the Residentie Orchestra.

Lidy has very broad musical interests and a passion for discovering new music. Several works were dedicated to her: Elegy for cello and orchestra, Sergei Yevtuschenko (2013) Lidy's Piece, Kate Moore (2016), Alex, how is it going with your Cello Concertino? Alexandre Kordzaia (2020) and the cello concerto Trailblazer, Joel Bons (2022).

Lidy plays Anner Bylsma's Farotti and a Persoit bow made available to her by the National Musical Instruments Fund.
