In 2009 Bram van Sambeek was the first bassoon player ever to win the prestigious Dutch Music Prize and he was also admitted to the chamber music program at the Lincoln Center in New York. He has been playing bassoon since he was ten. From 2002 to 2011, Bram was the first bassoonist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Bram is regularly asked as a soloist at home and abroad at festivals and orchestras. He plays as a soloist with orchestras such as the Gothenborg Symphony Orchestra, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, Warsaw Philharmonic, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the East and the Würtembergisches Kammerorchest Heilbronn. Composers such as Vanessa Lann and Sebastian Fagerlund and Kalevi Aho wrote concerts especially for him.

Bram teaches at the conservatories of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague. He plays on an instrument that is very dear to him: his bassoon was played by the great bassoonists of the earth, Klaus Thunemann and Sergio Azzolini.
